  • How does the Earlux Full Service Solution work?

    We are pioneering a new approach to prescription hearing aids to give you an enjoyable experience and the best possible outcome.  The Earlux process has three steps: the consultation, the fitting, and the follow-up.  In the consultation, we learn about your needs, assess your hearing, and help you choose the best solution to meet your needs. For the fitting (assuming you choose hearing aids) we program and mail your devices ahead of your appointment. Then we check your ear canals, retest your hearing, guide you through setting up your hearing aids and fine tune them to match your needs.   • Do I work with a doctor?

    Yes. If you choose our Full Service Solution, which provides prescription devices, your care is actively overseen by a doctor of audiology. Your audiologist is supported by a team of licensed hearing instrument specialists who’ve all been vetted for their exceptional knowledge and experience.

  • Is hearing loss reversible?

    As of now, there is no way to reverse noise-induced hearing loss, because it involves permanent damage to the tiny hairs inside the ear that transmit sound to the brain. However, hearing loss is treatable, and the right care can make a transformative difference to your hearing experience.

  • How can I persuade my spouse or parent to consider getting hearing aids?

    Don’t ask them to get hearing aids! Ask them to get a hearing health checkup. Explain that they may not need hearing aids: other forms of help like hearing training may be enough. Earlux provides a checkup at home with a video link, so it’s easy and convenient. There’s no pressure to sell: we simply explain the best solution in each case.

  • Are there any types of hearing loss that you can’t or won’t work with?

    In general, we can help anyone 18 and older with a hearing loss that ranges between mild and severe. If you need prescription hearing aids and you have certain medical conditions, we may ask you to get clearance from your physician prior to the fitting. There are some rare cases that are better served by in-person care in a clinic. For example, if you have a condition such as chronically draining ears, or if we determine you need earmolds for your hearing aids. Our team is well qualified to advise you in these situations.

  • Are Earlux hearing aids covered by warranty?

    Earlux offers only name brand hearing aids that are covered by their respective manufacturer warranties. Our main models all come with a three-year bumper to bumper manufacturer warranty. Our entry-level prescription model carries a two-year warranty.

  • Does Earlux charge a return fee if aids are returned within the 30-day period?

    We stand by our 30-day money-back guarantee and your devices can be returned for a full refund if returned within 30 days of fitting. No return or restocking fees will be charged.

  • What if I misplace or damage my new devices?

    We’ve got you covered! For our prescription devices, we provide each customer with a loss and damage insurance from the manufacturer. In the event this happens, you merely pay a $300 deductible/per aid to be paid to receive a replacement(s).

  • Does Medicare cover hearing aids?

    Medicare does not cover hearing aids or exams for fitting hearing aids. Some Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C) offer extra benefits that Original Medicare doesn't provide, such as hearing, vision, or dental.   • Does private insurance cover hearing aids?

    The vast majority of insurance plans do not cover hearing aids. However, a select few offer a partial or even full benefit.  We have an internal team that will check your hearing aid benefits and verify if you have any coverage.

Using Your Hearing Aids
  • How long should I wear my aids each day?

    For prescription hearing aids, try to wear them a minimum of ten hours each day.

  • In what situation should I NOT wear my hearing aids?

    Do not wear hearing aids in situations that are too loud, too wet, too dirty, or when sleeping.

  • How often should I clean my hearing aids?

    Make a habit of cleaning the rubber tip (called a dome) each night with a facial tissue before placing them in the charger.

  • How long does it take to get used to wearing hearing aids?

    Your brain needs time to adjust to the increased clarity of sound. How much time varies from individual to individual, from a few days to several weeks, so you’ll need to be patient with the adjustment.
